Golf GPS Devices

Golf GPS devices have become (almost) a necessity - at least that's what I tell my wife.

Golf GPS Units

golf gps device Truly, if you want to be competitive with the other guys (who all have one) - how can a person stand a chance when the other players know how far it is to the green, to the flag, to the bunkers, etc.

However, whats the best golf gps that will give a guy the most competitive edge? Because that's what it's all about - how to improve one's score.

Figure out first what information you most want to make a good shot and where you golf. Consider some of these issues:

1. Display

What's displayed on the screen? Some only display distance and yardage whereas others show a visual map of the green or fairway.

2. Easy to Use

Is it easy to see and use. The Golflogix doesn't require any pushing of buttons - automatically displays information. Does the bright sunshine make the screen hard to see. Is there a backlight for cloudy dark days, dusk, or (if you play with my friend Peter) dawn.

3. Cost

Is your budget limited or will only the best do. Maybe you're like me and you want a good value for the money - something in between.

4. Maintenance Fees

Some golf GPS units have no fees, other have an annual or a single lifetime fee.

5. Battery Life

How long does the battery last and if it dies on you can you easily replace it with batteries you can keep on hand. Some units use easy AA batteries.

GPS for Golf Cars

GPS for golf cars is available at some courses that are wanting a competitive edge. If you don't have a golf hand held GPS, I'd pick the course that has a GPS equipped cart.

Most of them feature:

1. Distances to the pin

As the golf cart gets closer to the green, the system displays the current pin placement with distances to the front and back of the green as well as pin distance from the center of the green.

2. Fairway hazards,

3. Landmarks and

4. Pro tips on how best to play the hole

5. Electronic scoring

Golf Logix GPS

The Golflogix GPS is made by Garmin - and who knows GPS better. Golfers who use this golf gps device find it easy to use. There is no pushing any buttons. You simply look at the screen and it tells you what you need to know. It automatically gives you the distance to the green as you move towards it. To learn more click here: Golf Logix GPS
