Registering my golf cart for street legal.
by Todd
(Statesville, NC.)
I just bought a 2005 gas Club Car & plan to put a custom street rod body on it to drive around The Villages in Florida.
Question #1
Will they allow gas carts there for community street use?
Question #2
What accesories does the cart have to have to make it legal?
Question #3
All I got was a bill of sale. Is there some kind of title for a golf cart?
Thanks, Todd

Hi Todd,
I just spoke with Kitty at the Police Department at The Villages. Here are her answers:
1. Golf carts can be gas or electric.
2. Golf carts don't need to be street legal as they have paths or marked areas on the side of the streets for the golf carts. All stores, hospitals, neighborhoods, offices, etc are accessible by golf cart.
3. Titles are not needed, but she did suggest that getting insurance would be a good idea.
If you have more questions, call the Police Department at The Villages at 352-753-0550 and they are happy to help.
Sounds like a great place to live.
