What Causes Golf Cart Tire Wear and Uneven Tire Wear

Owning and riding a golf cart is so enjoyable, whether it's used to go get groceries, take kids to school or simply for golfing. Yet, many golf cart owners overlook the importance of having a well-maintained golf cart, especially the tires, to ensure a smooth and safe ride.

The three main precautions that are needed to ensure a safer and top performing ride are .....

How to maintain and care for your golf cart tires

How to inspect your golf cart tires for wear and tear and

Knowing when to replace your golf cart tires

Golf Cart Tire Maintenance

Ensure the tires are inflated to the manufacturer's recommended pressure. Maintaining the right tire pressure in your golf cart tires is important for safety, performance and to extend the life of your tire. Under-inflated tires will wear out the edges of the tire more quickly, while over-inflated tires will wear out the center of the tire. Check the tire pressure especially when seasons are changing from warm to cold or cold to warm.

Rotating your golf cart tires can help to prevent uneven wear and increase their lifespan. This often overlooked step can extend the life of your tires.

Golf Cart Tire Inspection

Regularly inspect your tires for bald, or semi-bald, treads. When the tread wears down, your grip on the surface decreases, which can potentially lead to accidents and compromises the safety of your riders.

Secondly, if you notice any cracks on your tires—whether on the sidewalls or on the tread—it is a clear sign of golf cart tire wear and that the rubber has started aging.

When to Replace a Golf Cart Tire

Look for worn down treads, uneven tire wear and cracks or bulges. If your tire is unable to maintain the designated tire pressure that is another sign that a tire needs to be replaced.

Knowing how to identify signs of wear and when to replace worn golf cart tires can help to keep your cart running optimally and help to maximize the safety of your cart.
