What Does Uneven Wear on Your Golf Cart Tires Mean For Your Ride

The key to keeping your golf cart tires in good shape and condition is by monitoring and maintaining the right golf cart tire pressure.

When the tires are at their optimal or correct tire pressure, the treads will wear evenly and the tires will last longer. If the tires are over-inflated, the center of the tire sort of "balloons" out. This means that that section of the tire - the center - will be in contact with the pavement more than the rest of the tire.

Correct Golf Cart Tire Pressure

You can tell if this happening to your golf cart tires by checking the center section - is it smooth or does it have less tread than the rest of the tire?

If so, you are over-inflating your golf cart tire which leads to premature wear in the center of the tread.

Maintaining the right golf cart tire pressure can save you money by extending the life of the tire. Conversely overinflated or under inflated tires lead to a shorter tire "life" which means they will need to be replaced sooner rather than later.

Overinflated tires can greatly increase one's risk of a blow out - even if you aren't driving it. Just ask my daughter and son-in-law. Their golf cart tires were so overinflated that one of them burst and split wide open.

Although the sound of the "explosion" in the garage was enough to give one a heart attack, thankfully no one was hurt. However, it could have turned out differently if the blow out occurred while the whole family was riding on the golf cart.

Find out what the correct PSI is for your golf cart tires and enjoy a safe, smooth golf cart ride.
