Golf Cart Rear Seat Options
There are lots of reasons to consider a 4 seat golf cart, especially if you live in a golf cart community.
Most of the families in Peachtree City own and use a 4 passenger golf cart rather than a 2 seat golf cart. If you own a 2 seat golf cart, you can convert it to a four seat golf cart by purchasing and installing a rear seat kit. The rear seat can be installed by the owner or through a local golf cart dealer.
A 4 seat golf cart is great to to use when taking the family or a couple of extra kids to the pool, shopping for groceries or going out for ice cream. We love the extra seating for taking the grandkids places or just for going out to dinner with another couple.
A 4 passenger golf cart can come with the back seat facing forwards or with the rear seat facing backward. The benefit of the rear facing is that the passengers have a better and more open view of the pretty paths, streams and golf courses as they are riding around.
But most people will tell you that they prefer a forward facing seat for a more comfortable ride. The forward facing 4 seat golf cart costs more than a cart that has a rear facing seat added on. If you are looking for a used 4 passenger golf cart, it is rare to find one with the forward facing seats. You may have to buy it new and have it custom ordered by your local golf cart dealer.

Golf Cart Rear Seat Kit
A golf cart rear sit kit includes a fixed-position rear seat that is attached to the back portion of the vehicle where the golf bags would normally be placed.
Installing heavy duty leaf springs to handle the added weight of carrying 4 passengers is recommended. Be sure to select the seat cover that matches your front seat - the standard color options include beige, buff, white or black. Also the finish of the struts and arm rests should match the rest of your golf cart.
These seats/kits are specific to the golf cart make and model. The two options are a fixed seat or one that flips down to a flat bed position for hauling.
4 Seat Golf Cart with Flip Seat
I do use our golf cart for other purposes besides golfing. We own almost 3/4 acre lot and the flip down back seat has been used many times to carry mulch, haul away branches, deliver fire wood and pick up plants.
There is a golf cart rear seat that can also serve as a flat bed. The rear seat is hinged and flips open to a flat bed. It is called a Rear Seat Flip-Flop Kit.
You can haul people and/or cargo with this rear seat. Or as my wife points out I can use it for yard work and hauling branches, pine straw or mulch.

These seats are specific to your golf cart make and model with standard seat colors of beige, white and black. The arm rests and struts come in different finishes so be sure to order the finish that is consistent with the rest of your golf cart.

For the safety of your rear seat passengers install a golf cart safety bar.
The golf cart grab bar provides something to hang on to as they get on or off the golf cart. Be sure to install golf cart seat belts for your front and rear seat passengers. You can buy this accessory separately or if you may find it included in some golf cart rear seat kits.

When buying a golf cart enclosure the size you buy depends on the size of the roof of your cart. Look to see what size roof the golf cart enclosure accommodates - whether it is an for an extended top or for the original "shorter" roof.
Upgrading to a 4 passenger golf cart will provide you with more opportunities to enjoy your golf cart with friends and family.
